Artist Statement I am an observer, a collector of natures ephemera and a concerned bystander to the natural world I have purposefully surrounded myself with. If there is a theme between any of my works, it is my hope to engage the viewer and to pass along my desires for safety, connection and concern for the places we inhabit, both internally and externally. The pandemic, the environment, and the state of our world and politics has created an insular feeling in my psyche. I have found greater spiritual grounding in my work as I explore the things in my heart through my investigations in clay. The constant barrage of news infiltrates my thinking and creates a stress and tension which somehow finds termination when I retreat to the studio and release those parts of myself into a tangible creation. The place where I find most solace is in the countryside with animals and in the forest where textures, smells and the infinite creativity of the Universe feed my imagination.

Artist Statement Wherever my eyes land could be a source of inspiration. In nature, books, paintings, travels... It never ever ends, and that's a wonderful thing!

Artist Statement My ceramic work celebrates the joy of creating and using handmade objects. I'm inspired by the natural beauty of the Canadian landscapes and nostalgia about gathering together to share food, make music and build community.

Artist Statement With delicate sprays of glaze, I bring to life scenes of serene beauty. Soft misty hues evoke the tranquility of early morning fog, while sharp reds reminiscent of Tropicana sunsets ignite the imagination. In other pieces, I capture the ethereal dance of the Northern Lights, swirling and shifting in a Kaleidoscope of colors. Each piece brings a touch of natural splendor into your home.

Artist Statement As a clay artist, I create art that merges the tactile richness of sculpting with the visual vibrancy of painting, using clay as my central medium. My practice revolves around relief sculpture, where I explore the dynamic interplay of form, texture, and colour. In one approach, I sculpt forms like houses and boats, then transfer these onto a coloured clay canvas, enhancing them with underglaze finishes that add depth and tactile interest. Alternatively, I start with a clay canvas, layering bendable underglaze colours to delve into chromatic relationships, crafting visually engaging narratives. The unpredictable nature of underglazes adds an element of surprise and spontaneity, as the true colours only emerge after firing. This transformation often results in vibrant pastel hues, making each artwork distinct and engaging. This unpredictability not only challenges me as an artist but also creates a unique connection with the viewer, inviting them to discover new dimensions within each piece. Through the synergy of texture and colour, my work aims to evoke emotional resonance and thoughtful contemplation. I strive to create pieces that are not just visual experiences but also reflections on human perception and the inherent beauty of unpredictability. Clay, with its ability to seamlessly blend painting and sculpting, allows me to craft unique, compelling artworks that celebrate the mysteries of the medium.

Artist Statement Nature is often my inspiration. Colour interactions, pattern, and texture are my primary interests, and stained glass windows have long intrigued me. I have invested years trying to create the effect with glazing on my pottery.

Artist Statement My pottery evokes a modern farmhouse style: traditional function combined with a minimal and modern style. I love the organic look of clay and often leave it partially exposed, using glazes that react with the clay body to add life and depth.
