General Information

The OGP is in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  We are a community of potters from across the region. The OGP doesn’t operate a physical studio or kiln.

Subscribe to our email list or follow us on social media. We email subscribers three times a year, with details about our sales and Great Bowls of Fire. We do not share our email list with anyone, ever. Join our email list here and check the events calendar.

You can browse our Member Gallery, which includes links to personal websites or social media (if provided). You can also look for them at our sales and exhibitions, where many members display their work.

Membership

Membership is open to anyone interested in pottery and ceramics! Potters and clay enthusiasts of all levels and interests are welcome to join. You can become a member here.

Sales & Events

The OGP holds sales twice a year, in December and May. They are a major highlight of the OGP calendar, find out more here.

You must be a current member in good standing and pass a jury process. Details are shared with members prior to each sale.

Great Bowls of Fire (GBoF) is our annual fundraiser for the Ottawa Food Bank. Potters donate beautiful handcrafted bowls, restaurants and bakeries donate delicious food, and all money from ticket sales goes to support the Ottawa Food Bank.

Great Bowls of Fire takes place each year in March. Details will be available here early in the new year.

No, admission to all OGP sales and Clay Festival is free and everyone is welcome.

The Ottawa Clay Festival is held each year in May, at the Horticulture Building at Lansdowne Park. The Clay Festival includes our Annual Juried Exhibition, Spring Sale and lots of other events.  What other events?  The popular kids clay table, a fun pottery throw down, demonstrations, and adult playtime on the wheel – it’s fun for the whole family! No, it’s first come first serve.

Yes! Adults can give the wheel a try at Adult Playtime on the Wheel. It’s also first come, first serve.

Classes & Workshops

The OGP does not offer classes, however we do host workshops for members, with local and visiting ceramic artists. Click here to find local organizations offering pottery classes.

Some workshops are open to the public, while others are reserved for members only. Check individual event listings for details here.

Exhibitions & Juried Shows

Yes! The OGP organizes exhibitions to showcase the work of its members, namely Celebrating Clay and our Annual Juried Exhibition. Find out more here.

Calls for entry are emailed to members and posted on our website with guidelines and deadlines.

In our juried exhibition, ceramic artists submit their work to be thoughtfully reviewed by an experienced judge. Pieces are selected for the exhibition based on quality, creativity, and craftsmanship to ensure a curated and inspiring exhibition.
